Christian Bierworth was born in the kingdom of Hanover then under British rule. As a result he was a British citizen. Christian emigrated to Canada at the age of nineteen accompanied by his widowed mother. They settled near present day Hamilton. At the age of 21 he married Miss Katie Letch from Buffalo NY. Their union produced 10 children. Deeply religious, he studied for the ministry, but the death of his wife caused him to turn his attention to farming .

In 1874 he married Rosena Fransky of Faraday township. It is said that when he was courting her he raised the question of children and asked her if she liked them. When she relied that she did in fact like children, he is reported to have said, “That’s good because I have ten.“ Rosena and Christian had seven for a total of seventeen.

In 1912 after the death of his second wife he returned to Bancroft from Montana to settle here for good.

He died on the 17th of February 1920
